We need to talk about chevin
OPEN 1 SEPTEMBER - END OF COMPETITON
RACE 8 OF THE GPX BLUE LEAGUE (GPX-B8)
You have no idea how to deal with this baby!
Did Great Owl Running create a monster by failing to form a bond early on? Should we have sought help from professionals if we felt we weren’t coping? Or was Chevin simply a bad seed; an innately evil trail who no one could have tamed? You could say he is handsome and ingenuous. But looks are deceptive. You'll be moved if not entertained.
The origins of the name Chevin are uncertain; the earliest attestation is in an eleventh-century copy of a charter from 972 which gives the spelling scefinc, while a charter of around 1030 gives the form on Scefinge. The most probable origin, according to a range of authorities, is a Brittonic word whose modern Welsh descendant is cefn ("back", "ridge", "ridge of high land").
The highest point of the Chevin, Surprise View, reaches 282 metres (925 ft). This point offers extensive views of Otley and Wharfedale.
