the virtu-owl 2024

Kick Start your 2024 from the front door! The Virtu-owl is back for January.

Grab your watch or gps device and run a 1km - 10km any time, anywhere. You can run this challenge wherever you are in the world. Run the distance, submit your time (using the link to our online form) and work your way up the leaderboard. There are 10 separate distances from 1km to 10km.

HOW IT WORKS

On our online scoreboard each runner has a default time set 90 minutes (1.5 hours) per race. So in total each runner has a time of 15 hours (1.5 hours x 10). When you run a race distance say for instance 5km - the Time you submit (for example 22 minutes) for your 5km replaces the 90 min default. That then decreases your total time to 13:52 (13.5 hours and 22 minutes). Once you have done all the distances all the times will be your own. Lowest time wins!

RULES

Run An ‘X’km and submit your time Start Finish / Anywhere Make sure you submit your elapsed time (not your moving time), You must not stop your watch in between running.
Run must not contain a descent of over 100m in elevation

HANDY TIPS

Get rid of those default times! If you have a spare half hour go out and do the distances casually with a mind for improving them later, they don’t have to be your best efforts on the first attempt, and if you run out of time to do them at least you have a fair chunk of time taken off your total!

SUBMITTING YOUR TIME

Your time MUST be recorded on a gps device (whether a watch or phone), uploaded to Strava or Garmin Connect to be shown as evidence and then sent over on our online form. RESULTS Results will appear on the live leaderboard which will be updated every week!

How Scoring works

LOWEST TIME WINS! For Each Virtu-owl event you will score a time. Every race has a default score of 90 mins until you run it and replace that time. Your position in the GPX Grand Prix is determined by your time.
