What is a Mob match?

A Mob Match is a race between two (or more) clubs. Each club try to get as many members racing as possible, as all runners can make a difference by scoring points and pushing the opposition down places and therefore increasing their own score.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

A Mob Match is scored based on the lowest number of runners in a team (less 3), for example, if CLUB A have 50 runners and CLUB B have 30 runners, the first 27 of each team count towards the score.

The advantage of having a deeper field of runners is that you have a better chance of scoring points.

For the sake of this tournament we are starting with a minimum of 20 scorers (10 men, 10 women).

The top 5 (of each gender) score bonus points 6pts (1st), 5pts (2nd), 4pts (3rd), 3pts (4th), 2pts (5th).

Tournament details

We will have an online live draw to matches of the opening round. In the event of there being an odd number of teams there will be a three way match if required.

Once the draw has been made. A course will be chosen and arranged with club representatives.

Who can take part

Mob Matches are open to paid up club members of each club taking part. There is no limit on number of second claim club members. Club ARE allowed to have guests running for them but it is mandatory that all runners are required to club colours.

Registration, Race numbers, Race timing, course direction and results will be provided by Great Owl Running, we will likely do multiple mob races in a day. We would very much appreciate some volunteers to help out on the day.

First round will take place in February with subsequent rounds within a few weeks.
